So here we are at Level 1 with the Spring equinox just passed and with daylight saving having just started. It really does feel like it might be a fresh start, doesn't it? Unfortunately, I don't think the rigors of 2020 are behind us yet but with the birds singing, buds bursting into flower and warmth in the air it's hard not to feel a tiny bit of optimism creeping in.

At the clinic Level 1 means I can put my books and magazines back out, and offer water and herbal teas again. I will keep the QR code in place and encourage you to maintain the habit of tracking your movements. Covid-19 is a tricky foe.

It's important – and healthy – to occasionally stop, take some time and reward ourselves by engaging one of our five senses in a directed way. Beauty therapy treatments involve the luxury of touch and/or scent, but your reward doesn't have to cost much, if anything. Listen to bird song or a particular piece of music, focus on seeing the beauty around us, prepare food that you've longed for and missed. Perhaps the reward is to have a block of time to create something – music, art, craft, writing – or to simply sit with a cup of tea and a pet on your lap or beside you. The benefits of such moments are immense, both physically and emotionally.
